About Our Story

Woodworking is more than a trade. It is a craft built on patience, skill, and respect for the material.

About Little Lumber Woodcrafts

Hi, I’m Mike—the sawdust-covered hands and heart behind Little Lumber Woodcrafts.

My love for woodworking began early, watching my dad make things by hand. I was fascinated by how a rough piece of lumber could turn into something useful, sturdy, and beautiful. He was my true inspiration, and those early memories are part of the Little Lumber story.

I took woodworking classes in school and kept it as a hobby for years. But after moving from the UK to Canada at 22, I found myself completely absorbed in scuba diving. It became more than a pastime—it was a passion, an obsession, and a big part of who I was.

A few years ago, an unfortunate accident made it impossible for me to continue diving. Losing something you love is never easy, but it opened the door for progress that was familiar and grounding. All that passion, focus, and energy found its way back into woodworking—this time with a deeper purpose.

In 2023, my first grandson arrived, and with him came a whole new kind of inspiration. I started making solid wood toys for him—pieces that were safe, sturdy, and meant to be played with, not just looked at. Toys that could survive being dropped, were safe to chew on, and could be loved the way only a child can love.

What started as gifts for my grandson quickly became something bigger. Friends,  neighbours, and families began asking for their own wooden helicopters and tractors. Before long, Little Lumber Woodcrafts was born—a way to spread that same craftsmanship and joy with my wider community.

Today, I make wooden toys for children, kitchenware for grown-ups, and a few fun things in between—all created by hand from quality hardwoods. Whether it’s an airplane meant to spark imagination or a statement cutting board designed to live proudly on your kitchen counter, every piece is made to last and made with care.

Thanks for stopping by and for supporting local, handmade craftwork. I hope my passion helps share one of nature’s gifts with your home and puts a smile on your face.
